Darling goes to court to stop recall election after saying she wouldn't sue

Madison — Sen. Alberta Darling and two other Republicans sued late Tuesday to try to halt recall elections against them — a week after Darling said she would not go to court to do so.

Three other Republican senators last week sued to stop their recall elections. At the time, Darling said she would not do the same thing. “I’m not going to,” Darling told WTMJ-TV (Channel 4).  “I want to move forward."

But on Tuesday, exactly a week later, she filed her own lawsuit on the same grounds.

"We're staying together as a group," Darling said Wednesday. "I could have had a chance of sticking out there by myself or staying with the group. So it's as simple as that."
