Candidates in State Senate District 8 recall election hit the streets

WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE—

Candidates fighting to win recall elections are hitting the streets. Republican State Senator Alberta Darling will square off against Assembly Democrat Sandy Pasch. Both candidates are back in their district talking about collective bargaining and the state budget. Why they differ is how they believe voters will interpret the recent events in Madison.

Now that the budget battle is over, the eighth senate district will decide if Republican State Senator Alberta Darling did what the voters wanted.


Darling voted in favor of a bill stripping public unions of most collective bargaining. She helped shape a budget that balancesWisconsin's $3.6 billion deficit, but also cuts deeply into education, health care and local government funding.

Pasch, along with several Democrats, fought against the collective bargaining bill and the budget every step of the way. Now, she's campaigning in Darling's district fighting for the senators job. She said, "We have seen a steady assault on the middle class family and it's continued with the budget and lot of the bills put into the budget at the last minute."
